January was all about recovering from Egyptian Sun burn, getting into healthier lifestyle, updating beauty products and embracing a few new ones. I’ve tried on and now using some new brands whilst stocking up on old favourites mostly on skincare and behind-the-scenes products- the ones you usually don’t get to see donning in photographs e.g; an eye primer and bath & body oil or make up brushes. So on that note, here’s what grab my attention and got me reaching for more in the first month of 2016.
Metallic Tattoos from Asos, Look Good Feel Better Makeover Brust set from Feelunique, Bioderma Photoderm Ultra-fluide from Boots, Urban Decay Primer Potion Anti-ageing from House of Fraser, Isa Dora Tapered Brush from Feelunique and Jan Marini High Protection from Face the future
Look Good Feel Better The Makeover Brush Set
Look Good Feel Better Makeover Brush Set- Powder brush, finishing brush, tapered blending brush and detail brush.
This is a newbie. I have been using brushes by mostly popular high-end and high-street brands namely; Real Techniques, Body Shop, Bobbi Brown, Bare Minerals, Eco Tools, Mac Cosmetics, Urban Decay but it was about time I update my brush collection and get a few extra ones just so that I can avoid using the dirty brushes when needs extra precision. I’m glad I looked for them online and found this good quality brush set in a strong storage case. It has a set of 4 brushes – Powder brush, finishing brush, tapered blending brush and detail brush .This ultimate collection make over brush set answers all your needs especially when travelling as it comes with a sleek travel case. This set alone is sufficient for doing the daily makeup unless you are aiming to create special occasion look.
One more, and a very noble reason to buy a Look Good Feel Better (LGFB) makeover brush set is it the only worldwide cancer charity providing practical support for women and teenagers struggling with the visible side effects of their cancer treatment.

Lemon Drizzle Bath and Body Oil
When Cognito Skincare– a Suffolk, UK based skincare brand offered me to choose from one of their recent products, I chose the Lemon Drizzle Bath & Body oil. I am a sucker for bathing and anything to do with it. If time permits, I would soak myself in the bathtub for a good half an hour every day. Hence, body care products are my weakness. They come in 5 different flavours- all named after your favourite tea time snacks- Eton Mess, Cucumber sandwiches, Chocolate Orange Truffle, Victoria Sponge and this Lemon Drizzle.
Cognito Skincare’s Lemon Drizzle Bath & Body Oil
At this time of the year, we like to ramp up the moisturising power of our favourite lotion by mixing it with, or layering it over, or use on its own, a nice slug of body oil. So, I opted for the Lemon drizzle flavour keeping the upcoming Spring-Summer season in mind, moreover I love to smell lemon fresh any time of the year. This is a sheer shot skin softeners!
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Anti-age
This is an oldie but what a goldie! I started using a tester version that came with my naked eyeshadow palette and I’ve seen a noticeable difference in firmness and my eyes appear more youthful. I tried all 4 of their primers that came with Naked 3 palette and after trying on them all, this is my most favourite one. It’s dewy, blends smoothly, disappears smoothly onto the skin and the best part is, you can apply it directly from the wand/ applicator it comes with. . My shadow stays on all day and the skin on my eyelids looks brighter. Can’t believe I’ve found a solution to my slowly ageing eyelids and that it’s not even a cream… It’s a primer!
Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Anti-ageing
The other 3 primers by the brand are cheaper than this Anti-ageing potion. They also offer one in travel size but given the size and price of the regular sized one, I recommend you to go for the regular size as it’s small anyways.
Bioderma Photoderm Max Ultra-fluide SPF 50+
Now this, I use only on my body, the reason being it feels slightly sticky on application. I avoid applying any oily/shiny/sticky sunscreen on my face and neck since I have combination oily skin anyways plus I wear makeup on top. That said, this sunblock cream is highly moisturising and very easy to apply. I detest sunscreens that leave a horrible looking white/ashy effect on your skin. This ultra-fluide texture does exactly what it says, leaves no white marks, blends really well guaranteeing maximum protection from sunburn, skin intolerance and premature ageing with its anti-UVB and extreme anti-UVA performance. You will thank me later when you realise that you have found something you can use without looking like a clown.

Jan Marini Physical Protectant SPF 30
I use this sunscreen on my face and neck only as its pricey and can’t afford to glide it down beyond these two parts of my body. It feels like a tinted moisturizer on application but without adding a layer. It blends well if you are planning to wear foundation on top. This water resistant cream offers broad UVA and UVB protection to decrease the risk of premature ageing. On regular day when I don’t wear any makeup at all, I will just apply this over my moisturising cream in the morning after cleansing my face and I’m good to go.

Metallic Beauty Tattoos
This is an unusual choice to this list. I usually blog about items in monthly hauls that are sustainable. This is surely not one of those items. But January is usually the month when most people start planning for yearly holidays. If you are going somewhere sunny and warm in the next few months, all fashionistas, make this body art sheets your must-have accessory. I first tried them last year when I was beach-bumming in Hawaii. It lasts more than a week even if you stay into the water for good 4-5 hours everyday.
These metallic tattoo are perfect for radiant beach wear to gorgeous summer festival looks. These temporary gold, rose gold and silver designs can be applied on your arms, legs, ankles, necks or even down your back to complete a sultry beach-boho look. They will be my only piece of accessory paired with swimsuits and beach cover-ups while sipping exotic Brazilian cocktails on the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema in Rio, come next month.
This particular pack comes with two sheets with various designs in different sizes. You can share it with a mate, if you want. They are on SALE now, so stock up like I did in January because when summer is here, they are on demand, naturally sold on standard price then.

Isa Dora Shadow Blender
I have quite a few blending brushes that I enjoy using. So, this is not one of those whimsical purchases, rather I wanted one blending brush with a long tapered brush that would give me the ease of blending seamlessly single or multiple shades, softens lines and edges. This fits the bill perfectly. This soft and fluffy brush does exactly it is meant to be doing. If you have seen my last outfit post here, you will see how I softly I blended the eyeshadows into the crease primarily using this brush- one notices you are wearing eyeshadow but its not obvious. The result of blending it gives, can’t get softer than this!
