Plans may become useless or subject to change, but planning is an essential activity you have to undertake. Even more so when all your bags are packed and you’re ready to go to a new country far away from your home base. Planning in advance on what you will wear in the new country really helps alleviate the overthinking of what to wear in the mornings and thus makes everything much more relaxing. In this post, I am going to share yet another set of packing picks with you because we are all set to fly off to far east i.e. Hong Kong & China for 3 weeks of major discovery.
Packing Picks for HongKong & Mainland China
Before all the major voyage trips we have taken over the last few years, we shared with you the packing picks so that you understand the rhymes and reasons behind selecting a certain type of garment or accessories or even a pair of shoes. We had to naturally keep in mind various factors such as the destination we were heading to, the weather, local customs, activities we planned to undertake etc. As such you will see that packing picks for mini-breaks in Europe were different from what we suggested for travelling to Brazil & Chile for example. Have a look at the packing picks for Norway, Russia, Egypt and Hawaii too incase you have any plans to travel to these destinations in near future.
First and foremost I had to choose something to wear comfortable and stylish at the airport and then in the plane. So I have chosen this loose-fit, over-sized sweatshirt bearing a value statement of mine “Feminist” and a pair of black leggings. We would start with Hong Kong first and keeping in mind the weather there, the activities we would be doing (mostly city based) and knowing what’s en vogue these days – I have packed my attire line up with a lot of frills, balloon sleeves and floral prints. I wanted to bear a signature of femininity in the outfits I would be wearing. Trousers are always comfortable and trendy especially during overseas travel and I chose culottes and wide legged trousers to keep the fashion quotient up.
As far as shoes are concerned, I am putting into my suitcase 8 pairs of them. Depending on how well they match with my clothes and the intended activity on a certain day, I mixed the shoe range with kitten heels to boots to loafers to nudes. As far as the colour is concerned, I am going along with the colours of the season – blush pink, nude and powder blue as seen in my repertoire of shoes for this trip.
As they say that the future is not only bright but it is a very bright red because the most auspicious colour in China happens to be red. So it goes without saying that there will have to be a touch of red in the fashionista packing this time. Therefore I have made sure that I am carrying atleast one bag and one coat bearing the red hot charms of the Chinese tone. We will be travelling to explore the famous Zhangjiajie mountain range on which the blockbuster movie Avatar’s set was inspired by and also later to Zhangye to marvel at the colourful land form situated there in the Gansu province in Northern China. Knowing that there may be hiking and climbing involved in both these places – I have chosen my shoes and clothes accordingly while keeping the vogue sense high.
For city based explorations mostly in Hong Kong, Xi’an and Beijing, the chosen clothes and shoes are planned to go well spreading the charm of spring in the air.
