I traveled miles, for many a year,
I spent a lot in lands afar,
I’ve gone to see the mountains,
The oceans I’ve been to view.
But I haven’t seen with these eyes
Just two steps from my home lies
On a corn of paddy grain,
A glistening drop of dew
. – Ekti shishir bindu (the glistening dewdrop, Rabindranath Tagore)

Even the celebrated poet Tagore expressed the fact that often so many times we tend to overlook the droplets in our vicinity in the quest for rain-drops in lands afar. Sometimes it is the sights and delights found in our own cities that we tend to take for granted or simply overlook in quest of illusion of the land farther. Still recovering from our whirlwind travels around the world, we thought to go foot-loose and fancy free to make the best of the autumn days right here in the home ground of London.

We opted to explore the part of the Kensington Palace Gardens right on the north side of the Royal Albert Hall. Working as the lungs for the city, London is one of the few capitals of the world boasting of pristine parks right in the heart-land. And especially in autumn, the fall foliage takes a dramatic golden turn where the ground below turns to gold for the Londoners to dig into.

The Albert Memorial kept its head high holding one end of the Royal Gardens. Up, close and personal – we were pleasantly surprised at the delightful designs of the memorial which reminded us that there were indeed so many such gems strewn around in London that we were yet to experience.

Immersed in the steady stream of bemused tourists in London, we felt the vibes ourselves of feeling like guests in our own home town. The curious look and the inquisitive approach meant that we started to notice things under a new light because the novelty of London can never be undone.

Even after inhaling the same air, passing through the same streets and immersing into the same vibes for last 9+years, London enthralls each time with its diverse range of delights. May be even the inconsistent English weather too is a great quirk as it always remains unpredictably inconsistent and hence interesting ever. Its always ON in LondON.
