Having a room mate to live with in Mexico City? And that someone so curious, sporty and sexy as Valentina? We could sense your fingers looking for the ‘book now’ button to click and reserve right now but read on to find out first why staying in Room Mate Valentina would make your stay in the mega capital of Mexico a pleasant and memorable one.
Firstly this whole idea of branding every hotel with a real person’s name and personality was a unique step. Rather than thinking of hotels as just blocks of bricks where we will stay, sleep and have breakfast in a foreign country, Room Mate hotels instilled a sense of humanness in all their hotels by introducing the imaginary characters. So we had Room Mate Valentina in Mexico City and similarly there is Emir for Room Mate Istanbul, Gerard for Room Mate Barcelona, so on and so forth. The hotels themselves reflect the personalities, traces and traits of their personae. Sadly you won’t be able to knock on doors of random hotel rooms to see if Valentina actually was living there or not, rather you have to feel her presence and touch of her personality in every small little details in the hotel, in its amenities and its service.
Location: Where is Room Mate Valentina?
Room Mate Valentina is located in the Zona Rosa district of Mexico City. We had a choice whether to stay close to the Zocalo, or the historic city center or somewhere farther from the city center but close to great restaurants and sights of attraction. Room Mate Valentina became the obvious choice because its located in one of the most vibrant neighbourhoods of the Mexican capital. Lines of bars, clubs, restaurants, were available around the hotel and commute was very easy. Although we were prepared to travel in metro, we found out that Uber was the best way to move around. There was heavy road constructions going around the hotel but we could still make use of Uber rides by getting picked up from round the corner.
Room Mate Valentina was also very close to popular neighbourhoods of Condesa, Roma and also a stone’s throw away from the iconic Angel de la Independencia monument.
Reception: How did Room Mate Valentina welcome us?
Staff at reception and entrance were very welcoming even though our arrival at the hotel was rather late. Eager to help and put us at ease, our check-in process was very smooth and we were guided to our room#404.
Room Mate Hotels work with designers such as Tomás Alía, Teresa Sapey, Patricia Urquiola, Lázaro Rosa-Violán etc. and it’s these talented designers who helped develop their vision by blending in local touches in the surroundings with local materials, artwork, and craftsmanship.
Room space: Staying with Room Mate Valentina!
The moment we entered into our room, we knew we made the right choice because our eyes did not get congested. There was ample amount of space and the L-shaped couch on the other end of the room, next to the windows created a great sense of relaxing appeal. There was even a personal note left for us on the coffee table with free drinks and chocolate which we found to be very thoughtful of the hotel.
Cleanliness & Comfort: Room Mate Valentina did not let us down
Not a spot anywhere, beds, floor, toilet floor – all was found to be in super clean condition and for the next 4 days of our stay, the house-keeping did a fabulous job in putting it back to its super clean status every single day.
Ample amount of space to just sit back and work on our laptops, or transfer photos from the camera or even crash in to the white linen to grab some sleep – we found the room to be oozing comfort. Super powerful shower which was even enhanced with a range of bespoke toiletries was a perfect phase to rejuvenate our senses after long days of exciting discovering around Mexico City.
We had to call the room service and house keeping a few times and on every occasion they were promptly at our door with the requested items. Given it got a bit colder than usual one night, we were even provided with an electronic heater to keep us warm.
It is true however that the neighbourhood was a proper party zone and loud music kept the party mood alive in the street. The room windows were able to cut out the noise from outside and except one night, we did not hear or bother about the music from the street. Our room was on the 4th floor, who knows if our room were at a higher floor, may be there would not have been any sound of music coming from the streets at all. In any case, this did not cause us any trouble to lose our sleep over.
Wifi was found to be super fast and we had a great time surfing the internet uploading our photos of Mexico City to share with our friends and families around the world, right from the comfort of our beds in the Room Mate Valentina hotel.
Breakfast with Room Mate Valentina
A good range of healthy breakfast was available for us starting from 7am every morning. Although we did prefer to venture out for breakfast at some famous spots in and around the neighbourhood, we did try out the hotel breakfast on 2 days. Set between a melange of yellows and blues, the breakfast had all the international and Mexican dishes and drinks to get us ready for an eventful day.
Bye bye Room Mate Valentina
As the founder of the Room Mate Hotels, Enrique Sarasola rightly said that their philosophy surrounds around 3 Bs – Bed, Bath & Breakfast and we also realised that our stay in Room Mate Valentina scored full marks in all these 3 crucial factors that any guest would consider while staying in a hotel in a foreign country.
Team onetimefashionista would like to express its sincere gratitude to Alejandra Schwartz, Head of International Communications of the Room Mate Hotels for collaborating with us. We confirm that above write up is a true recount of our first hand experience of staying at Room Mate Valentina hotel in Mexico City and it was in no way influenced by any third party whatsoever. We would love to go back to Mexico City to try out some more guacamole and churros and we can only do that once we would have dropped our suitcases at Room Mate Valentina. If you are planning to visit Mexico City soon, just book your room now to stay with the curious, sporty and sexy Valentina before she gets busy with other friends!0
