A question that my readers and girlfriends often ask me is – what is an ideal date night look? I know that the pressure to create an impression is high, but I personally find it best to keep your look simple and comfortable – there’s nothing sexier than feeling confident in your own skin, and a crazy over the top date night outfit that is too tight, short or uncomfortable is not going to let that happen! My biggest tip? Let your accessory be the star of the night.
To add that extra dose of romance I created this look around the centre of attraction- this red blazer. I just love how it can be transformed from coffee to cocktail-o-clock in a sophisticated way. It’s fun to mix work style of trousers together too – white and black go particularly well. There’s something so effortlessly cool about these pieces, that reminds me of timeless styles of “power women” but with a modern twist. Perfect for date night – I always find a touch of nostalgia to be so romantic!
When we travel, every dinner or lunch is date night or day date. We don’t let the romance dry down when we are back on home turf. In fact London has so much to offer, so many places to discover, so many new restaurants, cuisine to try out that the past 10 years (since we’ve been living here) weren’t just enough which is ahhmazing ‘cause we’ll never be bored of London. So, last Saturday, after a smashing hit hair cut at my most favourite hair salon Michael Van Clarke, Beautographer and I went on an unplanned date night. Unplanned because we didn’t know where we were going, hence no reservation done. This was quite adventurous for a Saturday night in London as its a fat chance that you’ll be seated, if you wish to dine out at a popular, up-market restaurants anywhere in the West End. Read where did we finally go here, but first, let’s talk about this date night look. I wanted to keep my outfit simple to make my freshly cut & styled hair and accessories really pop. My monogrammed clutch did the trick. I went for an understatedly sexy vibe. There is a misconception that date night looks must be an all in all skin-show. Ummm…don’t overload on showing skin – a little goes a long way, the black lacy tank top popping through the blazer will do the needful and it’s fun to leave something to the imagination.
