If you are anything like me, by the third trimester you are tired of wearing Mama leggings/ jeans all the time. Some alternate silhouettes that work during and after pregnancy are body-con dresses, and oversized coats (if you are in colder climates like I do) that cover the belly. This has been a failsafe combo for me over the last few weeks! Thankfully, most of your outerwear and accessories work whether you are pregnant or not, so go for fun statement pieces like this masculine coat and punchy accessories like these tasseled earrings and polka dotted sheer tights I’m wearing here. After 35 weeks, its almost impossible to fit into a non-maternity dress but if you can pick the right fabric and fit, you will be able to wear it much after your baby is born.

How to select a dress during heaviest phase of your pregnancy:

  1. Look for more firm-fitted, stretchable fabrics to show off that bump, not to hide it! Fabrics such as cotton jersey and Lycra are designed to stretch. Dresses in materials like this will last you through several stages of the pregnancy.
  2. Pregnancy’s a time to look and feel great! Be happy to participate in the pregnancy fashion trends that show off a mom-to-be’s curves. Pick large floral or animal print dresses. They tend to camouflage the bump when you stand front-faced but brings out the curves from your side-profile.
  3. For the working mom-to-be, have fun looking for work-appropriate dresses. To look professional, stick with a more neutral color palette, such as black, charcoal, olive, camel, and even some red, for accent.
