My fashionistas, it’s been long I have blogged. I had tried so many looks in the mean time but didn’t have professional photos to share with you all, moreover I was away in the USA busy attending a conference and doing some touristy activities;) Since I have come back I’m snowed down under work, attending events, mundane life etc. One such event was a day out at the newmarket racecourse. My very first racecourse experience and today I’m here to share with you all the Look I donned there.
Some of you who had been to a racecourse event must be aware that smart dress is required in the Premier Enclosure and Hospitality areas. I had the ticket for the premier enclosure (from where you get to see the race closest and with the best view). Jackets, ties and hats are positively encouraged for men. Please note that blue jeans, t-shirts, sports attire (including trainers), unduly casual or extreme attire are not permitted. Anyone wearing such items are usually asked to move to other enclosures, where more casual dress is accepted by the majority. For ladies, it’s anything that shouts ”elegant and classy”. For premier enclosure guests, no off-shoulder and strapless dresses. I had seen such faux-pas a lot. I strictly maintained that my dress has a sleeve and it’s just upto the knee. ”Elegant and classy” without being messsy and showy;)
The race I had been to is called the Piper-Heidsieck July Festival. It is the region’s most stylish summer event, with racegoers donning their finest clothes to complement and enhance the unique garden party atmosphere. The best dressed can win an array of fantastic prizes if they enter ‘Fashion At The Festival’, in association with Grand Arcade. Spectacular outfits and hats are everywhere to be seen in and around the grandstands, on the sun-kissed lawns and around the picturesque parade ring. There are prizes to be won across the three days for ‘The Best Dressed’. I was photographed to be in that list. They make you feel like a ‘celebrity’;)
I wore a gorgeous ruby red shift style dress from Planet collection with a lovely animal jacquard effect. Features an asymmetric pleat detail on the scoop neck and a black patent belt for a sleek silhouette. With small cap sleeves and an invisible back zip. I loved how it added a slick black belt just like the ones Mrs. Beckham wears.
I team it up with a Ben de Lisi‘s exclusive designer collection natural meshed bow headband, embellished with a rose button hat top, delicate feathers and spiralled quills. My hat is on sale on my facebook page. Come and join me there, if you wish. Price details will be there.
All I wanted is to create a ‘‘match-o-much’’ between my shoes and hat and dress and clutch. I wore my Aldo nude pump heels and carried my diamonte studded red clutch that I bought from an Independent designer collection onboard during a cruise holiday last year.
I wore my rose golden stainless steel parker chronograph glitch watch from Michael Kors that i just picked from the Michael Kors flagship store on 5th avenue, NYC while I was there in the beginning of this month. I had set my eyes on this for the past 6 months. Why I didn’t buy earlier? I checked the price. Shopping in USA is way cheaper than London, so I waited to pick it from there as i knew I was going there in June-July anyways:)
I just wanted minimal eye make-up as the event is during the day, so I just outlined my eyes with dark jet black liner from Illamasqua and brushed my lips with a dash of lipgloss from Bodyshop. I had raided few antique markets in NYC, the ones usually sit over the weekend, so I picked few accessories from there, I have worn one ring from the collection I brought back home in London. I simply loved this silver antique designer ring. I have worn this diamonte daisy flower ear ring to keep it simple and subtle. This is from my very old collection of ear rings that I collected during my stay in Delhi, India.
