My fashionistas, ”Did you just get married on top of Fira?” is what I was asked by every single person I met on this day. Clueless I was initially about their curiosity but later figured out that many couples just go to this exotic location of the world to tie the eternal knot. Dressed in a white gown, a flower crown and some diamond jwelleries are so common to see on almost all brides in the west. But what make it even more special? In this case, the backdrop, the location, the atmosphere and not to mention the colors. The color white and its associaton with wedding is not unknown to any of us, more because it symbolizes purity, peace and most importantly harmony-a harmony of lifelong love, undertsanding and bonding. Lifelong? Well…I would like to believe so;D
I know the rational behind people going to this picturesque island that is created out of an enormous volcanic explosion and wed there. I recommend it too. But no, I didn’t do any such thing there, I was just ME, me dressed up keeping the history and culture in mind of the places I visit, as I always do. The whitewashed churches with blue domes are the trademark of Santorini-an island located in the southern Aegean Sea, about 200 km southeast from Greece’s mainland (Source: Wiki). I have incorporated these two colors in this Look- visualizing the Look of Greek Goddess Athena.
Top tips: I have added the white flower (seen on the bustline) to the dress, thought it will be the perfect ornament for a plain white maxi-dress. This is a two-way worn piece of accessory, can be used as a brooch as well as hair clip. Always look for a bit of creativity here and there with your existing collection of clothes or accessory, they come very handy and guess what! They are free!
Try it, if you ever go there, even if you don’t, this still can be a great look to don on the beach weddings, beach day outs or even on a summer day out sans the flower tiara. Drop me a line at the comment section, I like to hear what you have to say:)
N.B. Photos were taken during a summer holiday in Greek Islands.
