The B factor: Bobbi Brown. Blush. Brown Skin Tone

My fashionistas, I am definitely NOT the right person to give you tips on make-up as I have no professional training. Being a Virgo, I am a keen observer, a student of nature, I can learn anything by observing…well…I believe, almost anything! Whatever little I have learnt of make-up is to serve my own purpose-honestly, to do my own make-up as I wanted to save my monthly beauty salon costs. I don’t miss a single opportunity to learn from the greatest beauty bloggers, beauticians, make-up artists in the world, whenever I can. Talking about iconic make-up artists, Bobbi brown has surely created a phenomenonal brand for flattering natural-toned make-up for face, lips and eyes. But who thought she will be this grounded and actually cared to reply to her followers and worshippers of her products. Few months ago, I was looking to buy a new blush, so I wanted an expert advice before I try few on my face to decide for myself, I tweeted Bobbi, this is what she replied to me:)

I went to Bobbi Brown’s counter at Selfridges London, consulted the make-up artist there-Ammy  and we decided to try few shades of powder blush on my cheeks. I have a very oily T-zone, I possibly can’t opt for cream blush. Interestingly, the one that looked best on my face was the Apricot- the one Bobbi actually suggested me on Twitter. I thought  if I tell the make-up artist there what Bobbi tweeted me, she will be biased on her opinion. So I didn’t reveal it until we tried all the shades of the powder blush. Once, we both convinced that Apricot is the shade I should go for, then I had shown Ammy Bobbi’s tweets to me. She was delighted, surprised and went on sharing this wonderful gesture of Bobbi with her colleagues at the store. I came back home with Apricot powder blush that day. I trusted Bobbi’s tip, but at the same time, I went with my own judgement, I have tried other shades on my skintone-it is the best tip you can get. Always try it for yourself, see whether it goes with your personality, skintone, need and then only buy.

Based on my own experience, I tip you that using natural-looking blush like coral, apricot, or youthful pink instantly wakes up the face and makes you look alive and fresh. As Bobbi Brown always say, ” You don’t need to look younger, just look fresher”.

Top tip: If you want to make your cheek bones appear higher, use a bronzer and apply it at the bottom part of your cheekbone to accentuate.

Bobbi’s powder blush has this beautiful ”Silky formula glides on smoothly and offers a matte finish with long-lasting wear”.  Always apply on the apples of cheeks using the Blush Brush, blending up into the hairline, then downwards to soften. Finish with a pop of brighter blush, applied just on the apples of cheeks.

  1. This is a great tip! I myself do prefer natural-looking blushers and have been using different shades of these ever since I have started wearing make-up.

Although this was because of my own personal choice without realizing that it suited my skin tone the best 🙂
