My fashionistas, one of the best alternative destinations one can go to on a Monday morning other than work is the Sin City. Trotted out and posted this on one such day on my Facebook timeline, ”Some of you go to work today. I came to Vegas. Happy Monday blues! I’m gonna wear red today;)” Do I have a choice there? A little red dress for a day out? Before you start frowning, let’s just say when in Vegas, do everything sinful, why leave the fashion alone? I have ticked off this box too in my most recent holiday in the West Coast doing nothing but Vagabonding in Vegas. Gambled, won, gambled, lost, designer dined (yes you read it correct), hotels hopped, illusioned by live David Copperfield show being watched, KÀ by Cirque du Soleil being ticked off the bucket list (long pending too), Strip club checked out, jaw-dropping rides ridden, fremont street experience experienced= What I call an adult amusement park experience!
We can’t completely rule out the fact that wearing a little red dress during the day can be a bold fashion statement, but if worn well, it can create a look that seems both classic and seductive. I haven’t committed just one sin wearing a little red dress on a bright sunny summer day in Vegas but also gone for all-in-all bold personality by opting for a pair of leopard print court shoes. After all what the heck of having a shiny fur added to my foot. It hasn’t been for the lack of trying but I do always keep an eye out for lower heels so that walking to the locations for photo-shoots for the blog or making those London tube journeys comfortable, but as you probably know, shoe designers often seem to struggle to make mid-height heels without adding a generous dose of the X-factor. There’s absolutely nothing bold about these leopard-print pumps, which use a low heel with one of my favourite colour/pattern combinations: animal print plus golden. They’re a little bit sassy, aren’t they? That’s not a word I would use for mid-heel shoes, so they’re definitely up for some ohh-ahh shoegasms;)
Top tip: When you choose accessories to wear with your little red dress, stick with simple, unobtrusive pieces that add a little interest and contrast keeping your dress the focal point of your outfit. No matching shoes please!
Even though I can accessorize this LRD multi ways, I still tried to keep things toned down. A large hand bag may wash you out with ”too much going on there”, instead, I went for a small real leather-fur clutch, especially one in a pattern that matched my shoes but varied from my dress.
Too many accessories can confuse the eye sometimes. So, I restricted my jewelry to one or two small diamond and pearl pieces with pure gold base, and avoid any accessory that looks unnecessarily large.
(If you are ready to splash some cash and lost in the luxury of all possible things, thank me later, take a trip to Las Vegas. I am completely swoon. It’s about completing your fully American experience in the most American city in America. When in Vegas, if you want to stay in a home as good as your own if not better, choose to stay at Ron Maceda’s urban-vintage theme house 5 minutes from the Strip on Tropicana Avenue. If you don’t believe me, check out my photos and the link posted here.)
