My fashionistas,’’if you want to build a great brand, stop following trends,’’ says brand-building expert Denise Lee Yohn. This may not be always appropriate in the business of fashion. With every passing season, fashion finds a new identity in a brand new trend, sometimes it goes on to the next season without a change. To follow a trend or not is the game fashion bloggers, connoisseurs and legends play season after season as some thinks trend following may be the simplest and most direct way to attract attention and raise short-term fame. But we can’t rule out the fact that following someone else’s lead usually proves it is popular. I may not be fast-fashion’s favorite child but I try keeping a command of the latest trends and terminology in the industry and occasionally jump on bandwagons. One such trend that all fashionistas are embracing this season is necklace layering.
I have distilled down to three simple ways to wear this trend:
Number one: A graduated effect—delicate shorter necklaces with slightly chunkier, longer necklaces.
Number two: Go metallic—Gold is in vogue and for a change my favorite one too just for this trend, but silver can be unique and elegant.
Number three: Go for a letter or zodiac pendant—Personalize your stacking with a tiny piece of pendant of the initial of your name or your zodiac sign.
Top tip: Get a minimalist look by layering simple chains—no pendants needed!
Stay tuned, stay stunned!
