My fashionistas, although my weekend is usually for having fun with friends, cleaning up the house or generally doing all those things you are unable to do during the week, sometimes is good to have a lazy weekend all to yourself. During this lazy weekend you do nothing but relax. You may go out for a walk or go to a spa, if that makes you feel good, or you could stay all day in bed, watching movies. This is supposed to fill you up with enough energy so you can function well in the week to follow. But you have to dress up even on lazy weekend for a relaxed walk in the neighborhood reservoir. While I keep a full closet stocked with tops and dresses of every pattern and color, shape and size, I’ve recently whittled down my summer wardrobe to the bare essentials: floral prints, neutral tops, sensible sandals and – of course- a summery cotton Kurti or tunic top. A watercolor printed blue and green Kurti with strings that are tied across the back are very cute, elegant, but comfortable at the same time. My summer wardrobe feels incomplete without a collection of cotton Kurtis from India in different prints and patterns.
I’m all about the color for summer but I’m also up for some neutral, comfy shorts or capris or chinos(or all the three) to round it all out. Cotton Kurtis are breezier in hot weather anyway, so pairing it with neutral bottom wear gives a sporty edge for this feminine outfit. As I’m sporting a bold printed Kurti, I styled it with cool separates- a white capris, a pastel messenger bag and a brown leather wedges with blue satin bow. Don’t even care to judge my hair- as the reservoir lake area was windy like the moment-before-thunderstorm.
Markedly, this weekend was full of lots of much needed rest. Really needed some after back to back action packed weekend and working all week. I really needed some ‘‘couch time’’ after not having it all week. Saturday we slept in so incredibly longer than usual, enjoyed a scrumptious lunch with raisin pulau and Hilsa fish in mustard-poppy seeds sauce and aubergine fritters and a super healthy fruit punch for brunch (that carrot-satsumi-kale-apple-ginger combination is perfection), ran some errands, relaxed a lot, enjoyed a favourite TV show marathon watch, and had a pleasant long walk in the Brent reservoir. Lovely, lazy weekend.
Stay tuned, stay stunned!
