My fashionistas, studies show the key to happiness is spending your money on experiences rather than possessions. A typical partner would have gifted gold or diamond jewelry or may be a pair or two of Jimmy Choo or Christian Louboutain noting my desire for Shoegasm;) My partner knows I can fend for myself and most importantly he understands me- what I would like to receive for presents and, that is definitely not something materialistic. Standardly, I hate surprises! But the surprises thrown on my birthdays have always been unique experiences. Thanks to no one but him! An hour and a half of pampering signature treatment called Sweet festival in the best spa of the town- Buenos Aires, to begin my birthday this year back in September 9th.
In 2005, UNESCO awarded Buenos Aires with the City of Design distinction. The abundance of fashion and architectural designs throughout the city inspired this prestigious award. Indeed, the fashionable porteños of Buenos Aires understand pampered beauty at the deepest levels. As such, a potpourri of luxury day spas and hotel spas grace its streets, the best one of all is the Cielo Spa at Four Seasons Hotel Buenos Aires. It offers a full range of massages and spa treatments based on the Germain de Capuccini natural product line – designed to relax, detoxify and harmonize the body.
The Cielo Spa offers various signature treatments. From hydrating facials to hot stone massages, Four Seasons spa therapies are wide assortment of signature. Appointments are required for spa treatments, preferably 48 hours in advance. My partner had booked me in from London, well in advance. As it was a pleasant surprise on the birthday morning, I headed there immediately after the breakfast. The spa manager and other stuff have given me a warm welcome with a cup of peach-lemon-ginger tea upon arrival. I was then taken to their changing room cum lounge which had a dry-sauna, a steam room, master bedroom sized showerrooms alongside a huge dressing room area. From sleepers to hair brushes, from hair spray to chocolate- you name it and it was there! After I had changed into the white crispy Egyptian cotton gown and sleepers given to me, I kept my belongings in the dedicated locker there and later, escorted by a sweet young lady to the message room.
My partner had booked me in for one of their signature treatments- Sweet Festival. Sweet Festival is a mixture of luxury and sensuality- a delight to the senses. Treatment begins with a massage using Lomi Lomi techniques, in which your body is relaxed with gentle, wave-like strokes as your senses benefit from aromatic sweet-almond oil.

It doesn’t end there! My partner’s well-planned birthday surprises got even bigger and better when the Spa team joined in and arranged a birthday cake for me. They took their sense of hospitality to another level by standing all in a queue and sang along ”Happy Birthday” for me! Honestly, I tend to become more embarassed than happy at such moments. Strange enough, I find myself in an awkward situation when I see someone trying to make me feel special in public. Yet I had the cake and ate it too;)
There are more to it. On the next post, I will be sharing more unique experiences gathered later that day celebrating my birthday. If growing a year wiser means getting showered with more experiences like these thrown in the form of surprise birthday presents, then I say, ”Bring it on!”
Stay tuned, stay stunned!
