My fashionistas, from work to school run, from cocktail parties to even red carpets (yes! That’s been inuagurated by Emma Watson and Freida Pinto way back last year)– these days anyone that’s anyone is wearing trousers.

If you want your leg-coverings to blend well into the culture of a country you are visiting (I wore this trouser during my trip to Chefchaouen, Morocco in where it is preferable to dress up modestly as I have mentioned earlier in my previous posts on Morocco), or if you are allergic to the sheer tights, or simply wanting to try a new look on you – then you’d better take those jeans and chinos down to the charity shop post-haste (or simply keep them for another season)! Because there’s only one type of leg cover-ups you’ll be wanting to wear, and that’s trouser with a character. In fact – if you can’t wear statement trousers you’d be better off wearing NO TROUSERS AT ALL. That’s what I say.

I have styled it with an ox-blood red chiffon top with sleeves(remember I was in Morocco). Red or colors from same family always play a fitting contrast against animal prints. Another reason to choose this color to go with this trouser is this Chinese Sun necklace- the semi-precious turquoise and amber stones set in base metal and layered with 18k gold plated beads have ornamented this plain, single coloured top to its perfection.

To dress up my feet, I opted for this squeeze pom pom velvet slippers in burgundy. I have fallen for pom pom details last year. First it was bags (I have about 5 bags with pom pom sticking on it) and now it has stepped into my feet. I have got this girly-girly pair from ‪Topshop‬ in winter last year but I couldn’t wear it often then except I debuted it on this day (when photos taken) in Morocco, now that the weather is getting back to sandal and slip-ons friendly, I am loving’ this pair so much that I’m wearing it everyday for the past 3 weeks.

A tri-color messenger bag (burgundy is again the focal point here) have completed this look. I have to share with you all that we shot these picture very early in the morning (7.30am ish) just before we hit the road starting from Chefchaouen-Rabbat-Casablanca-Marrakech…all in a day. Honestly, I wasn’t up for a hair-wash so early in a winter morning. To hide the flaws of my 3rd day old-unwashed hair, I tied up a tie-dye scarf (which is basically an old dupatta from a three-piece-salwar-suit) from the centre of my head and let it fall from one side of the shoulder. Just one knot would be enough to allow it to fall loosely from the front. If you have fine, straight hair like mine, secure the scarf to your hair (hiding) with bobby pins in order to make sure it doesn’t slip through.

Berry lips and a cat eye Miu Miu sunglasses are two of my favourite style statements for colder days and it was a ‘match-oh-much’ moment to incorporate them into this look.

Will you be trying a statement trouser this season? If you do, share your look with me on Facebook page and please, drop me a line at the comment section as I like to hear what you have to say.
