Dessert in a shot glass is the closest I could get to
eating drinking a shot of any sorts. That said, I have prepared this layered Oreo cheesecake chocolate brownie and served them in shot glasses because not only they are small in portion (less calorie) but also they look simply adorable.
Unlike the rest of the world, I’m not a fan of neither the overtly popular Oreo cookies nor chocolate. I know I’m weird! Though, that doesn’t keep me away from having a sweet tooth. While fine dining at restaurants, I always make sure I skip the appetizer but order a delicious dessert of my choice; something to do with fruits or spices. This particular dessert in a shot glass is not something I would order if I have to eat it all by myself because it’s high in calories and a bit far too sweet for my taste bud. OneTimeFashionista is not about only cooking things I eat, it is also about what you all would like to eat. Because, in life, the things you do for yourself are gone when you are gone but people remembers you for the things you have done for them. Hoping in my heart that you’ll be interested in this dessert presented in a shot glass and attempt them making at home for you and your loved ones.
Lets prepare it now
Preparation Time: 1 hour and 30 Minutes
First, a layer of crumbled Oreo cookies, then a cream cheese mixture, chocolate brownie, then some whipped cream, more crumbled Oreo cookies, and a half-moon slice of Oreo cookies on top just for fun. These puppies come in around 150 calories per shot. YAYYYY!
Ingredients I Used:
9 Oreo cookies
Whipped Cream Layer:
1 Cup Whipping cream
2 Tbsp icing sugar
Cream Cheese Layer:
1/2 package cream (soft) cheese (room temperature)
2 Tbsp sour cream
1/4 cup grandulated Splenda (or caster sugar if you prefer)
+ 1/2 of the whipped cream prepared above
100g butter plus little extra for the tin
2 tbsp golden syrup
100g caster sugar
150ml/¼ pint milk
1 egg (large or medium)
1 heaped tbsp cocoa powder
225g self-raising flour, minus 1 heaped tbsp
1 tsp ground cinnamon
¼ tsp bicarbonate of soda
Step one: Butter a baking tin and line the base with a buttered greaseproof paper.
Step two: Melt the butter, syrup and sugar in a saucepan. Remove from the heat and stir in the milk and egg. Add the cocoa to the flour, then tip this mixture into the pan with the cinnamon and soda.
Step three: Pour the mixture into the baking tin and put it in the pre-heat oven in 180 degree for 20 minutes. You can spread some fresh blueberries on top but it is totally optional. Take it out (Run a fork or a toothpick through the inside of the brownie to check. If it comes out smoothly, it is ready. Let it cool off, turn it around on a tray and discard the paper base.
Step four: Use the shot glass to scoop out small shot-glass sized brownies.
Step one: Prepare the whipped cream
Make sure your whipping cream is very cold. Add whip it, and sugar and whip until stiff peaks. Set aside.
Step two: The cream cheese layer
In a seperate bowl, add the cream cheese and sour cream. Whip until smooth. Add your splenda (or sugar) and mix again. Then gently fold in half of the whipped cream you prepared above.
Step three: The Oreo layer
Place your Oreos in a food processor and grind until crumbly. Doesn’t have to be perfect.
Step four: Assemble
Start with your Oreos, press it into the bottom of your shot glasses. Next add a thin layer of cream cheese (it’s fairly tart so you don’t have to add too much). Add a thin layer of whipped cream followed by a piece of chocolate brownie. Top it off with a little more whipped cream and another layer of crumbled Oreos. Crown it with half a Oreo for flair.
Keep these in the fridge. Make them a day or two before a party.
