My fashionsiats, last Saturday, I went to Selfridges London to purchase the famous Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation, as I’ve heard so many positive things about this product and now I am so glad I did! This foundation is the superstar of foundations. All the buzz around this foundation is right on point because as soon as I tried it, I loved it instantly and nothing could compare. The color was on point and the coverage is just right on spot! Personally, I prefer foundations that feel very light on the skin and produce a natural complexion. I’m happy to have found out if I can apply one layer of this foundation during the day and feel my skin can still breathe. At night, I want to be able to build coverage for a flawless finish perfect for photos in flash light. This foundation photographs beautifully which was something I was deeply concerned with as you know I need to be photographed often for this blog and I think it creates a finish that looks natural, just like it’s bare and fresh skin. This can be attributed to Giorgio Armani’s Micro-fil technology, which is an exclusive combination of materials that lead to easy application as it’s made for a weightless, silky texture. This technology forms little crystals that are supposed to look just like skin once applied to the face. The oil–free fluid glides on seamlessly, offering hydrating all-day coverage that can be layered for a personalised finish.
The Armani beauty expert (she was called Cat) who attended me was very helpful and patient. Not only she helped me trying on a couple of shades to decide which one would suit me better but also she showed me how to do a go-to make up look with a few other Giorgio Armani products and guess what! I have found their Luminous Silk Powder equally suitable to layer over with this foundation for a finish look.
The color selection for the Giorgio Armani foundation is wide than any other high-end designer foundations like Dior or Chanel. I have often noticed that high-end designers tend to forget paying equal attention to all skin types. Giorgio Armani is exception to this trend. So, you don’t have to worry about mixing colors to match your skin tone. Mine is the 5.5 shade which is defined as natural beige. There is that coveted glow factor in this foundation, which is GBP 36.50 for the foundation and GBP 33.00 for the powder, as well, creating a youthful and fresh finish. Another perk of this luminous silk collection is, the formula is perfect for sensitive skin. I have an all in all oily skin and specially my t-zone gets annoyingly oily even in minus temperature. I break out once in a month, routinely, also when I try something new on my skin, however, I did not break out after trying this foundation at all! The only downside that I could find to this foundation, honestly, is that it doesn’t contain SPF. However, you could always purchase a moisturizer with SPF that you incorporate into your makeup routine. It’s an oil-free product, so you don’t have to worry about an oily complexion when you combine it with moisturizer.
One thing I always pay attention to everything I buy, do, present, use and basically consume, is, how does it look, ofcourse after the quality. Presentation is important! I love this bottle significantly more than all foundations I have used so far. The Giorgio Armani logo engraved in the foundtaion bottle has a posh touch. The powder case is light-weight and fits the puff pretty well in it. For foundations, I prefer the pump to the dropper or stick. A little goes a long way for me. So, one pump is enough for a natural look during the day and two for the night look. I used my Sigma Tepered Kabuki F86 to apply the foundation and swipe the powder off with my Real Techniques powder brush, and it’s just flawless!
There were just so many positives to it; I love the way it makes my skin look and feel! You can really achieve that naked, natural look which is what you truly want from a foundation, while getting the coverage you need for a perfect base to your favorite makeup looks!
Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried this foundation and translucent powder or if you have a favorite I should try next as I like to hear what you have to say.
