Christmas is around the corner and with that I mean you are officially allowed to start shopping and buy yourself some new party season make up products. Goodness! A woman can never have enough of those! As you can see from the title, in this post, I’m going to share the recent items added to my make up closet.
I’d like to share my initial thoughts on the products I bought. I am also adding some of the product I bought beforehand here in London, because they were purchased in September but I already published two posts for October make up haul, hence, I’m including these in this post. I’ve included the prices of everything in GBP.
Smoldering, smoky eyes and nude lips are the makeup equivalent of the black stiletto; they go with everything, which is why this combination is my most favourite look to wear at this time of the year. So, I needed to get me the perfect nude lipstick, and a bolder, brighter eyeshadow to go with. I opted for blue, because creating smokey eye with black and grey shadow are oh-so-common. Morever, cobalt blue colored eyeshadow is so pretty with any types of eyes. Even a touch of color on the upper lid would make an impression. It’s gorgeous, and the one I have chosen is on budget (thank you drugstore!)
For my choice of nude lipsticks, I opted for a brown palette with a pink undertone. The perfect match for my skintone is a combination of a high-end and a drugstore lipsticks. I color match this bestseller Rouge Dior Grège 169 to my lips. To give a dash of sheen on top, I apply another nude shade Cappuccino 353 from Revlon. Those who are lighter skinned, can apply this shade on its own but it looks too pale and frosty on my type of skintone.
I find the pink undertone of this nude lipstick from a brown palette makes this color work for almost all skintone. On paler skin, it creates a very natural looking lip and on darker skin, it gives you a sexy pout, particularly when combined with strong eye (this L’oreal mono eye shadow in blue below or MAC Cosmetics’s Black Tied). It has beautiful depth to it so it doesn’t wash out the face. I like to apply lipstick with a brush- you get more control so you can apply the color into the corners of the lips cleanly and precisely.
Price: £26.50 Where to shop: Boots (I got it from there as I receive points on my Boots membership card. Good news!!! As I write this post, the price of this lipstick in Boots has gone down and they are on GBP 22.52)/ John Lewis/ Dior flagship store/ Selfridges
This is one of the bestselling products by Dior, as the staff at the Boots, Bond Street claimed. Even if she hadn’t vouch for it, after using it over a month, I can officially claim that a perfect finish on lips becomes reality with a lipliner from Dior that is incredibly easy to apply. This nude contour lipliner will go with ANY lipstick, in fact if you are not a lipstick person, you still should have THIS because just by applying this on its own, you can have that natural healthy looking lips without looking to wear no makeup on lips. It glides on with a precise, high-coverage line that enhances lip volume.
Top tip: The best way to color match your nude lipsticks is to choose a color in between. Select a palette: either pink or brown or orange, try and match with an in between color from the palette that is closest to your skintone.
Before I say anything, let me state that clearly I will not wear this lipstick on its own. Although the feel is absolutely good and creaminess of the lipstick is nice but it is all killed with the shimmer in the product. So, while on paler skin, it will give a shiny, frosty look, but on darker skin, it looks dull and make your look darker if you already have pigmentation issue. I layer it on top of the Dior nude lipstick Grege 169 that you just read above.
Price: £7.99 Where to shop: Boots
If it’s my way, I will get all the shades in these mono eyeshadow collection because not only they are great in quality plus they are great value for money. It is perfectly pigmented and great shine for doing the ultimate party season apt blue smokey eye (you will see me wearing this a lot in this holiday season).
Price: £5.49 Where to Shop: Boots
That’s not all. I’m going to share about the skincare products on the next post.
Stay tuned, stay stunned!
