December is here! How did it get so late so soon? At some point or another, we’ll all be invited to a company/office Christmas party in this month. And whether it be for your own company or that of your significant other, chances are you’ll be faced with the decision of what to wear to this type of event.
London’s streets joined me looking the part!
After considering the different types of outfits I’d wear to this type of event, I decided that a subtle festive (like….festive but not OTT…make sense?) little lace dress is the perfect ensemble. It’s feminine and classy, yet can be festive and fun as well. All in all, a lace dress is the perfect solution to your what-to-wear-to-an-office-party woes.
You could always go with a basic black dress and take the safe road, but who wants to look ”boring” anyway? You’ve got to look a little more festive at the same time ensuring that you don’t want to wear anything ‘loud’ either. It’s about striking the perfect balance between holiday cheer while still looking stylishly professional, just for that one night of the year.
Every organisation is different in terms of its work culture and environment. Having said that, there are exceptions to the rule, but for the most part, holiday office parties tend to be on the swankier side and definitely a little fancier than your average conference room lunch. For this post, I’m envisaging a cocktail attire dress code and hope to shed some light on how to strike the perfect balance between festive and appropriate with your outfit.
What to wear and what not to wear can be a problem for many working women, because you do not want to be over-dressed or under-dressed for your office Christmas party. You want to be comfortable in your clothes, be complimented and feel good about yourself. While flaunting clevage on a regular day at work is a simply NO-NO but a little skin show is allright in office christmas parties because you will be meeting everyone in a relax environment but also because it is expected that you will present your ”interesting” best self that your colleagues had no clue about.
For my office Christmas party, I opted for this classy and sexy navy lace dress. It is like wearing the ”new” LBD. It is dark, classic but still not black. The circular skirt, deep V-neck with a scalloped edge at the front and long sleeves are perfect for any body shape which was an important factor for me to choose this dress because we usually think that by Christmas we would have lost all that body fat and get fit into our favorite dress, but it never happens. So, why torture yourself! Wear a dress that flatters your body type and shape.
Glitter shoes for Christmas will never go out of fashion, so that is definitely something you can opt for. Also, this is the only time of the year, I get to bring out these sequinned babies out and take them for a stroll. To compliment the shimmery shoes, I picked this beaded evening bucket bag with a hanging gold-tone tassel.
I finished out this look with soft curls and minimal jewelry- a pair of Kundan earring and a two-stone ring featuring Green Druzy and Blue Topaz. Lastly, my office Christmas party look served up a heavy dose of shine with this strong and bold blue smokey eye which I combined with nude lips. The products used to create this look are all listed in the last post here.
With this post, I hope that the frenetic search for the right clothes, the right shoes, and accessories for your office Christmas party will find some styling inspiration. For main christmas party or actual Christmas day event, I will have another look up and ready for you soon. Drop me a line at the comment section as I like to hear what you have to say.
