Hundreds of women cry ‘I have nothing to wear!’ and this has to be the most common phrase in a woman’s life, and it can be true to some extent, because we usually buy clothes, shoes for everyday use and when we have to go to a party, suddenly we have nothing glamourous enough to wear! That is when the frenetic search for the right clothes, the right shoes, and accessories starts. But this one is special. After all it’s Christmas party! So, if you are one of them, you can call off the search party because I have some great ideas on what to wear at the main Christmas party- glam up in a sequin dress, metallic shoes, and cozy up in a faux-fur stole! Because this season gives you an excuse to rock metallics, sequins, faux fur and sexy cutouts!
Family and friends get together every Christmas holiday and have a good time with their loved ones whom they haven’t really seen in the whole year. Thus, this is the time when you want to look your best, not only because you will be meeting everyone after so long but also because it is expected that you will put on your best dress for Christmas. Now, does the ‘best’ or the ‘perfect’ dress or shoes mean that they have to be expensive? Well, not really! The thing is, designer brands are the ones which are usually outrageously expensive, but that is because they are brands and also more comfortable, long lasting and better in design. Due to the amount of competition, you can now find so many middle-range designer wear that not only look similar but the quality is also top class. So, when choosing a perfect sequins long dress or gown this Christmas, I looked nowhere but my go-to online retailer Asos and spotted this red carpet-esque linear sequin long sleeve maxi Dress in grey. I’m swoon — so should you be, even if the only red carpet you’ll walk on is the one at our friend’s or parent’s house, walk in a sequin embellished dress!
I adore this sequin dress (and also this floor length) and on it’s own, it’s stunning. But I really wanted to glamour up the look. To complement the patterns of the dress, I went with a sparkly pointed mid heel court shoes and a sequin-bead embellished evening bucket bag with silver tassels. This bag manages to bring the look of being swoon so much so that I even wore the black- golden combo in the office christmas party look here. Only irony was, the silver tassel came off while I was on my way (assuming) to shoot location.
To go match-oh-much with the wine colored evening bucket bag, I opted for NAILIPS (nail that matches your lip color). It adds just the right amount of allure. For party or festive glamour, I wore my hair piled up in a messy top bun. Wearing your hair tied up with a sequin dress is a smart decision as you will avoid your hair getting stuck to the embellished sequins throughout the day or night while at the party.
To accessorize this sequin embellished eveningwear gown, I opted for minimal jewellery – a flower pearl ring in the same shade as the dress and a pair of diamonte studded earring.
Finally, I have finished out my Christmas Party look by adding this oomph of luxury- a faux-fur stole. A faux fur scarf or stole isn’t just for keeping warm – it’s the must-have accessory this AW15. It probably doesn’t hurt that these “look at me” accessory are the winter equivalent of a statement necklace—guaranteed to glam up!
Choosing the dress:
I would suggest that you choose anything but the LBD this Christmas 2015. This is not because it will not look good, but after all the clubbing and formal parties you’ve been to, I think your black dress needs a rest. Go for something deep and sensuous this holiday season, maybe a burgundy or metallic- silver with grey undertone or gold with champagne undertone dress would look gorgeous!
Choosing the shoes and accessories:
A woman can never have enough shoes! When going shoe shopping for Christmas 2015, make sure you look for something that suits your style. Glitter shoes for Christmas will never go out of fashion, so that is definitely something you can opt for. You can even pack a punch with color blocked heels featuring pompom, or a bright color shoe with glittered heels. They look absolutely gorgeous, and a lot of celebrities are doing it. Stilettos and mid-high heels will stay in fashion. Forever. Or at least I hope so because they are my favorite type of shoes! Keep an eye out on some good Christmas deals on shoes because that’s how I got this pair from Dune London.
With this post, I hope that you find a few ideas for the perfect Christmas party look. This look will easily pass on as New year’s Eve party look as well. To me, New Year’s Eve would be the Oscars if I compared the glam quotient of all holiday seasons to award shows. All that sequins, velvet, metallics and faux fur combiined together are the perfect recipe for a glamourous look to the fullest.
Happy dressing up for the holidays!
