After using their award winning Naked Eye Pencils, I’ve become a little more obsessed with Charlotte Tilbury that I actually got up at 5 am to arrive Covent Garden by 6am and queued up in December chill on their launch day. No, I’m not kidding.
I’m glad I did as I could see all the new products in-store neatly arranged, tried all the quad pallettes to decide which one I want and to get the complimentary makeup box personally autographed by the make-up artist herself. I came home with their Dolce Vita quad palette- most popular and best selling quad palette from the brand.
Without any second thought, I can claim that this is one of those few quad palettes suitable for all skin types. It is set of warm-toned, neutral shades that lean more red and copper. At first glance, you tend to think it runs on the shimmery side, but it can be toned down as it wears well, is easy to apply, and had good pigmentation overall. Personally, I like the burgundy-ish brown that can be blended into something very dark or more mid-tone, which gives it more versatility.
If I’m to use all the 4 shades to create an evening time smokey eye- I would do the following way:
The Dolce Vita #1 I will apply it all over the eyelid. It is a brightened, golden peach with warm, yellow undertones and a frosted sheen. The texture is soft, blendable, and a smidgen loose. The color wears well without fading until after eight hours of wear.
The Dolce Vita #2 I will then apply this rich, medium-dark burgundy-ish brown with warm, orange-red undertones to contour my eyes. It had intense pigmentation with a smooth, blendable consistency that made this a very easy product to work with. It wears well for eight hours before fading on me.
The Dolce Vita #3 Next comes to applying this a copper-brown with lighter gold and copper sparkle and micro-glitter shade on the outer corner of the eyes and blend well. The texture is very smooth with an almost wet-like feeling, which helps the glitter to bind better with the base color, so it actually translates as a whole onto the skin. The brownish color lasted for eight hours before creasing slightly. I suggest you apply a little extra on top to last longer.
The Dolce Vita #4 This is my favourite shade of this palette for evening wear. It is a medium-dark, golden brown with a more satin-like finish. It had good color payoff, while the powder was soft and blendable, though a smidgen powdery. It wore well for eight hours before I saw some fading. I would totally skip this shade for day time. look.
I am a fan girl of the Classic Eyeliner Powder Pencils by Charlotte Tilbury as it gives you a soft, subtle, blendable line that is easy to control. The result is chic and timeless. My go-to eye pencils are their Rock ‘N’ Kohl eye cheat and Bedroom Black eye pencil. So, I wanted to try this brown-ish tone this time as its perfect for a natural daytime look or buildable at night for a sophisticated sexy smokey eye. I have never experienced such an easy to work with eye liner and this particular colour is extremely flattering . It works great for a day and for an evening look. The texture is out of this world
Bring on the brows! This innovative brush-on fiber gel adheres to skin & hair, creating brows where before there were none. It builds easily for thick, lush arches, thanks to a tapered brush for blending & precision tip for shaping. I opted for the shade medium/deep. It is water resistant and makes your brows look naturally fuller. I say, it is perfect for those of us who actually have hairs on brows and blessed with naturally arched shape because it just gives you the finishing touch. For those who needs a little extra work done on the brows, you can use it on top of your brow pencil or powder to set it. After all it is the winner of many awards for its versatility.
That’s a wrap on my little December Makeup Haul. I have used this eye shadow palette pretty much every day while in Egypt. Loving the versatility it offres. In fact I’m a little bit addicted to it. It’s so multi-faceted! What’s the one item you bought in December that you loved the most?0
