It was our last day in Giza/ Cairo in Egypt. ”Happy New Year!”- this is what the Great Pyramids told us as soon as we opened curtain to welcome the first rays of the new year sun.
We had such a magical experience both in Giza as well as in Cairo and the trip of a lifetime to the desert safari to the Bahariya Oasis. After partying all night long at the Le Meridien Pyramids Hotel & Spa, we barely slept for couple of hours. Sleep deprived and tad tired but not lacking a bit of enthusiasm, we thought to take the day as it came- casually relaxed.
I will be sharing more about our Egypt adventures here, but first I wanted to share a casual look I sported on 1st January that was spent mainly doing nothing, but lounging by the pool, and oh! later in the day, we took a chariot ride to reach the best panoramic point to contemplate at all the three Pyramids in one frame. It was an unforgettable sight to see the first sun of the year go down splashing all its orange and yellow shades across the observant Pyramids. If you are already tempted, let’s watch the Egyptian sun going down together in the last post here.
Later we had to catch our flight to Luxor. We said au revoir to the Pyramids.
December-January weather in Egypt was still cold during the day time which meant staying covered up when heading outdoors. But instead of opting for darker shades, I felt that incorporating an undertone of spring was necessary. A pale color palette really lends itself nicely to the casual, easy vibes of this outfit, because sometimes there is nothing better than a long knit cardigan, a white shirt and Astral blue jeans. I think that it’s the perfect outfit for a day like this when you’re relaxing in the hotel and also apt for a short haul flight from Cairo to Luxor.
What’s also nice about dressing a little more laid-back, is that accessories can go a long way to enhance the outfit. Just adding a man-ish pair of ankle boots, a silk scarf doubles up as headband and a sleek bag makes the look a little more special and ready to-go. I find that these additions make an informal outfit a bit more elegant and refined. Plus, this is a really flexible look in that you can quickly transform it from day to night by simply changing the shoes and tucking the shirt in. Versatile, comfortable minimalism—it’s a love story!
