While you may claim insurance if your flight is delayed, you may not be entitled to claim compensation for late arrival of summer this year in London. Weather here is mercurial resulting in celebratory behaviour among the city dwellers in the first sight of sunshine and the first feel of proper balmy air. So was it the other weekend and we ventured out in the Regents Park to witness the first day first show of the supposedly short film in London called ‘Summer’.
While the grey of winter in London is an otherwise dull and gloomy shade, the cusp between spring and summer brings with it fifty shades of green. Evident in the fresh blossoms in the park announcing the arrival of the fresh and the new. Wonder why someone would become green with envy if more green is what is loved and cherished all around us? Certainly we had no answers for the colourful flowers. Fresher than the freshly cut bagels in the London bakeries, the new blooms had all the freshness and flamboyance to lift up the mood.
Like every Londoner, we went prepared – with our books, magazines, food and drinks to enjoy either an impromptu mini picnic or a siesta under the trees. I put on the floral embroidered top to reflect the ambience on top of everything around. A pair of sunglasses and a hat to balance between the shine and shade were also part of my repertoire. Also a floral embroidered Moroccan straw bag while we collected more memories in the green.
