On Sunday, the final day of our weekend getaway – the old adage proved true encore une fois that early birds not only catch the worm but also are served warm breakfasts by the generous hosts of B&B De Goede 13. All freshly baked and prepared for the two of us, the hospitality was so warm that we regretted not having spent enough time with the hosts. After all, true voyagers spend time with people, not just with statues and monuments.
Joss Stone (2007) hummed out “And I’ll be alright / And I’ll love again / And the wounds will mend / I’m bruised but not broken…”. But in Brugge, you will neither be bruised, nor will be broken. Rather this Flemish medieval town is a cure for a broken heart, or a delight for those who love to budge all the time.
Hard to believe that this UNESCO World Heritage medieval town is just 260km away from London. Perfect for a weekend getaway, we made the most of our two days in Bruges.
