As they say that you should not count the years with the number of days in a calendar year. As the pages flip into another year, it is supposed to increase the number of years you have been around. Why quantify this wonderful life we have when we can amplify its value by not counting the days and years but by creating and counting precious experiences and memories every moment. Before the start of 2016, we gave our readers a sneak peek here of our travels plans for the year. We successfully ticked off most of the destinations from our list except a few towards the last quarter of the year which we could not complete, especially to give priority to visiting family related travels. May be it was important to slow down, pause and reflect for a while before refuelling and relaunching ourselves anew for 2017!
You can mourn or silently moan, or you can drink, dance and get into a trance. You can bake, eat a cake or just simply throw a fake that you don’t care any longer when your birthday arrives and goes leaving you a year older. Shehzaad had his birthday on the 13th June and we decided to conquer the magnificent Mýrdalsjökull Glacier in south Iceland, the 4th largest of the country, on a snow-mobile! How is that for a birthday celebration? Given a choice of materialistic objects, gifts and galore – we always prefer to have experiences in such milestones of our lives. We believe the experience is what makes us wiser in life, not the mere numbers that turn on our birthdays.
Before you immerse yourself in the Icelandic experience, you have to immerse yourself in the warm waters of the Blue Lagoon. Before the cold in the air of Iceland could give us a snap as soon as the airplane doors opened, we knew we had to seek the warmth of the geo-thermal waters in Blue Lagoon as soon as our arrival in the “Land of Fire and Ice” to celebrate Shehzaad’s coming of age for another year – birthday that is.
