Plans may become useless or subject to change, but planning is an essential activity you have to undertake. Even more so when all your bags are packed and you’re ready to go to a new country far away from your home base. Planning in advance on what you will wear in the new country really helps alleviate the overthinking of what to wear in the mornings and thus makes everything much more relaxing. In this post, I am going to share yet another set of packing picks with you because we are all set to fly off to far east i.e. Hong Kong & China for 3 weeks of major discovery.
If you’ve been following our travels on Instagram, Facebook and over here over the past few months, you’ll see we’ve planned to explore a few European cities this summer–we are done with Vienna in Austria and we’ve planned to do 3 more countries (Belgium, Poland and Luxembourg) within this month! And why not! London is the ultimate city from which to explore Europe, in all its glory. We are pretty much always within a short flight from every European city! Figuring out how to pack for this mini city breaks is a fun challenge (every single look was thought out in advance, because we could only take one cabin luggage as we usually travel in budget airlines within Europe- it’s convenient and economic). In this post, I’m passing on my packing secrets for mini city breaks to you.
All eyes will be on the Brazilian behemoth in August for the Olympic games, but smart voyagers are planning their visit either earlier or later in the year, when the streets are emptier but the feel-good factor lingers. It’s hard to picture a city more generously endowed with natural beauty, with golden beaches and densely forested mountains surrounding a city that pulses to a samba beat. Yes, the Olympics are a big deal, but in Rio every night is a potential street party. Beautographer and I have arrived in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil this morning.
We have finally arrived at the land from where it all began – Egypt. The cradle of the important civilisation along the Nile, this patron of Pyramids was long in our wanderlust-list. As the last voyage destination of 2015 for Team OneTimeFashionista, we are excited to touch down here to celebrate Christmas and merrily usher into the New Year. We had to assiduously put the pyjamas, pantaloons and pashminas while we packed our suitcases, keeping in careful view the festive time of the year, location and climate of the destination, local norms and culture and more importantly keeping our own FQ (Fashion Quotient) uncompromised and intact. Read on as we share our packing tips for you so that you can truly Walk Like An Egyptian!
It’s that time of the year again when I’m writing this Packing Picks series for the third time in this year; this time for Russia. Team OneTimeFashionista has chosen Russia to be the destination for the third voyage du 2015. Since we can’t go to Pluto, we are off to Russia! Some of you may not know that the surface area of the Pluto is ”about the same surface area as Russia”. This is my funny take on the beautographer’s choice to travel to Russia as he argued since it’s the largest country on planet Earth, our voyage stories will have a huge coverage on the global map as far as size is concerned. To me, Russia still holds an alien place in my list of preferred destinations to see before I die. Having said that, there is so much beauty to see in the world. The desire to travel and experience the beauty of nature with your naked eyes is the best feeling in the world. To get up, close and sometimes personal to experience a different culture, climate, and meeting new people is a treasure of a lifetime. But planning a holiday can be so stressful that you will need a short break after your actual holiday! Conceptualising, planning and then packing can take so much time, and the expectations and excitements can make other things to take back seat. As you have been updated with glimpses of my wardrobe for Russia on Instagram and Facebook, I also have some handy tips for you to make things a little bit easier to pack for Russia that will take care of some of those little details we often forget before we embark on our voyage to this land of the Tsars.
We’ve got a few exciting days ahead of us because as you are reading this post, we’ve already left for our second voyage du 2015 in Norway. Come Saturday the 13th June, It’s the beautographer’s 35th birthday. Yayyy! We will be road-trippin’ to explore the fjords, villages, coastal roads and landscape of Fjord Norway as we drive through the Atlantic Ocean Road which is officially declared as the World’s Best Road Trip, and been awarded the title as ”Norwegian construction of the century”, we’ll have our very own special memories.
As you guys probably already know, I am off to my ”dream holiday” of all time. Ever since I watched Baywatch (I was in school), I envisaged myself one day running on the beach in slow-motion in a red one piece swimsuit. I know exactly what you are thinking at the moment! I should have been in the film business;) May be I should have! Ahhhs and oohhhs are over and while you are reading this post, I have crossed 7 seas to be in here in Oahu, Honolulu and later heading to the Big Islands Hawaii to celebrate 7 years of ‘saying it in black & white’ with who else other than my partner. March is our special month. It is when we registered ourselves to embark on the unique journey together followed by celebrations through traditional rites and rituals throughout the month. So, we chose not to pick one particular day to celebrate because that’s what is expected. To us, conventional is boring and predictable. Not our cup of tea or coffee for that matter! Instead we come on a holiday to explore a new destination, know the unknowns, collect memories and gain experiences in life to share with you all and everyone around us. So, here we are in the 50th state of U.S.A – Hawaii!
